Heart Attack, Stroke and Diabetes Prevention
At the Triana Prevention Center we
are here for you. Each patient is special to us and we are
committed to preventing heart attacks, strokes and diabetes. We
have a patient education room and we provide one-on-one
counseling for those patients who need some additional help
understanding their disease.
Please take a few minutes to review some of the ways we help
reduce and/or reverse your risk factors.
Early Testing
In addition to a comprehensive exam, Dr. Triana uses some early testing methods to better access your risk factors. Early testing includes, but not limited to:
- Advanced Lipids Testing - View a complete list of Cardiovascular & Inflammatory Biomarkers
- Echocardiogram
- Carotid Ultrasound
- CIMT
- ABI (ankle brachial index)
- Arterial Ultrasound
- Holter Monitor
- EKG
- MRA
Lifestyle
A sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for heart attack, stroke and diabetes. Once your physician determines you are healthy enough to exercise, a little bit of coaching from the Triana Prevention Center can help reduce or even eliminate the risk factor.
We want you to get up and move even if it is just to do little things throughout the day. It is not realistic to expect everyone to start or can start an actual exercise program but after reviewing the "fun facts" below hopefully you will see some activities on the list you can participate in!

When looking for the right Omega-3 fatty acid supplement to buy over-the-counter remember to check the concentration levels of the EPA and DHA ingredients. These two ingredients help to: reduce triglyceride levels, lower blood pressure, improve arterial health and reduce the risk of blood clots, decrease plaque build up and most importantly decrease inflammation.
At the Triana Prevention Center we believe in “Arctic Fresh Omega 3” which is pharmaceutical grade fish oil available as an over-the-counter option. This product is formulated and distributed by Norvegia Corporation (arcticfresh.com).
Please talk with your health care provider about the possible side effects of fish oil and to make sure you are a candidate for this supplement.
Soluble fiber has been proven to reduce the risk for heart disease. Ask your health care provider how much soluble fiber is right for you. Foods that contain soluble fiber can be found in grain/starch, breakfast cereals, vegetables, fruits, legumes and some nuts/seeds.
