What is CRP?
CRP stands for C-reactive protein.
CRP is a protein that is produced in the liver and is elevated in all types of inflammatory reactions; such as strep throat and other infections or inflammations.
What is hsCRP?
hsCRP stands for high sensitivity CRP and is known to be elevated in vascular and cardiac inflammatory disease. It is very sensitive and may be elevated in patients who are having compromised circulation to the heart and other organs.
Elevated hsCRP is another indicator that your physician may use to evaluate your risk of heart attack or other vascular occlusions.
At the Triana Prevention Center CRP and hsCRP are two of many indicators used to evaluate each individual patients risk of heart attack, stroke and other vascular inflammatory disease.
Our next issue will focus on congenital markers.
